Google Earth + The Dawn Wall: Partner Management

Google Treks: El Capitan, Yosemite

Strategic partnership development for Google Earth in award wining Netflix film, The Dawn Wall.

About

Filmmakers Peter Mortimer and Josh Lowell from Sender Films sought a way to showcase the story of pro-climber Tommy Caldwell’s 3000 foot journey up El Capitan, the most difficult big wall climb in the world.

High resolution Google Earth imagery provided the perfect solution - but it had never been used in a film before. We worked with Sender Films to ideate how this could work with Google, and then understood what Google would want and need from this collaboration.

Our team liased between the filmmakers and the technology, ensuring both team’s goals were met. The end result? Incredible imagery in an award winning documentary: The Dawn Wall.
